(Vax Before Travel)
For more than 119 years, AAA Travel has been helping people get to where they want to go, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. With airports, buses, and trains issuing Omicron virus variant regulations, millions of travelers intend to embrace their cars this holiday season.
Despite gas costing about one dollar more per gallon than December 12, 2021, 90% of people plan to travel by car this year as their preferred mode of travel, reported the AAA on November 9, 2021.
INRIX, in collaboration with AAA, predicts drivers will experience the worst congestion heading into the holidays.
As commuters leave work from significant metro areas, they could see more than double the delays versus typical drive times, with drivers in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, and New York City likely to experience more than three times the delays.
Bob Pishue, a Transportation Analyst, INRIX, stated in a press release, “Drivers around major metros must be prepared for significant delays. Knowing when and where congestion will build can help drivers avoid the stress of sitting in traffic.”
